Why IB students stay with me for the whole Diploma

Both years, same tutor.

Most IB students work with me from the start of DP1 through to their final exams. I know where they're strong and what to prioritise as exams get closer.

Practice for AA and AI.

Hundreds of worksheets and practice papers across AA and AI at SL and HL, from topic drills to full papers.

Guidance on the IA.

I help students choose a topic that works, plan the exploration, and give feedback on drafts against the assessment criteria. The writing stays theirs.

Help between sessions.

Stuck on a problem set or your IA? Message me on WhatsApp and I usually reply the same day.

How it works

  1. Free 30-minute intro on Zoom. We start on the topic you're working on now, or talk through IA ideas if that's the priority.

  2. Weekly one-hour sessions, after school or in the evening, Australian Eastern Time. We work on a shared whiteboard, and students keep the notes from every session.

  3. Reschedule online. Move a session through your booking link, with 24 hours' notice.

  4. WhatsApp between sessions for questions that can't wait a week.

First session free, then $120 an hour. No minimum number of sessions. If you want a regular weekly time held for you, a one-term commitment secures it.

I've been tutoring maths for over 20 years, working one-to-one with students from Year 7 through to university.

I teach IB, HSC and VCE maths, and high school maths from Year 7, to students across Australia. Most students come to me for one exam and stay for three years or more. By then I know how they think, where they usually slip up, and what's coming next for them, so we can deal with problems before they show up in a test.

I've also written hundreds of my own worksheets and practice papers. If a student needs another twenty questions on trig the night before a test, I usually have them ready, and they can message me on WhatsApp if they get stuck.

I work across AA and AI at SL and HL, and I help students with the IA from choosing a topic through to feedback on drafts.

Both Simon and I just wanted to thank you very much for all the hours you have put in with Jonnie over the past 3 years, he wouldn't have got to where he is now without your careful and thorough teaching and I have never seen him come home smiling like he did after his Stats exam!

Becky B

Very interesting and significant that the subject he so struggled with i.e. Maths was his top mark! Thanks again for all of your great work with him last year which contributed to such wonderful exam results!

Anne M

We are thrilled and I'd say it's pretty much thanks to you!

Frequently Asked Questions

For students planning to study STEM, AA HL is the preferred course. For business pathways, some top economics and finance universities require AA HL but many others will accept AI HL. For students who want to focus their energy on other subjects, AI SL is usually the best fit. I'm happy to help my students in making the right choice for them.

Completely clocking off over the summer holidays between DP1 and DP2. The long Australian summer break makes this particularly common here. Revising two years' worth of content for the final exam is a big task, and going backwards at the halfway point is a mistake students come to regret.

I help with brainstorming and selecting a topic, structuring the report, checking the accuracy of the mathematics, and suggesting potential paths for exploration. I won't write any part of the assessment for my students.

Yes. With focused, strategic study starting 6 to 10 weeks before the final exams, students can realistically finish one or two points above their predicted grade. The earlier preparation starts, the more ground can be made up. Leaving it until the last few weeks limits what's possible.
