Why most students stay three years or more

Same tutor every week.

You won't be passed between tutors. I get to know how your child thinks, where they usually slip up, and what's coming next for them.

Practice material I've written.

Hundreds of worksheets and practice assessments written to the NSW and Victorian courses. If your child needs another practice task on trigonometry, I'll have one.

Help between sessions.

Students can message me on WhatsApp when they're stuck, and I'll reply with a worked example, usually the same day.

Matched to their assessments.

I follow syllabus and assessment changes for HSC and VCE, so practice matches what your child will actually face.

How it works

  1. Free 30-minute intro on Zoom. Exam-bound students start on a topic they need; younger students get a short diagnostic. Parents are welcome but don't need to attend.

  2. Weekly one-hour sessions, after school or in the evening, Australian Eastern Time. We work on a shared whiteboard, and students keep the notes from every session.

  3. Reschedule online. Move a session through your booking link, with 24 hours' notice.

  4. WhatsApp between sessions for questions that can't wait a week.

First session free, then $120 an hour. No minimum number of sessions. If you want a regular weekly time held for you, a one-term commitment secures it.

I've been tutoring maths for over 20 years, working one-to-one with students from Year 7 through to university.

I teach IB, HSC and VCE maths, and high school maths from Year 7, to students across Australia. Most students come to me for one exam and stay for three years or more. By then I know how they think, where they usually slip up, and what's coming next for them, so we can deal with problems before they show up in a test.

I've also written hundreds of my own worksheets and practice papers. If a student needs another twenty questions on trig the night before a test, I usually have them ready, and they can message me on WhatsApp if they get stuck.

I know the NSW and Victorian courses from Year 7 through to HSC and VCE, and my practice material is written to them.

Both Simon and I just wanted to thank you very much for all the hours you have put in with Jonnie over the past 3 years, he wouldn't have got to where he is now without your careful and thorough teaching and I have never seen him come home smiling like he did after his Stats exam!

Becky B

Very interesting and significant that the subject he so struggled with i.e. Maths was his top mark! Thanks again for all of your great work with him last year which contributed to such wonderful exam results!

We are thrilled and I'd say it's pretty much thanks to you!

Frequently Asked Questions

In class, students know what topic they're working on, so the method is obvious. In a test, topics are often mixed and they have to figure out the right approach themselves. That's a different skill, and one that needs to be practised.

New students can start at any time, including mid-term, subject to availability.

That's completely fine. I'll use the free 30-minute session to work through a range of problems and find where the gaps are.

Primary school maths often rewards memory and speed. Students who can recall facts quickly do well and assume they're good at maths. When secondary school introduces more abstract concepts and multi-step problems, those students can struggle because they've never needed to develop deeper understanding. It's very common, and it's fixable.

In my experience, most students who say they hate maths are really saying they've lost confidence in it. Once they start understanding concepts they'd previously given up on, the attitude shifts.
