Where students get stuck
Choosing the right method.
Lectures cover one technique at a time; exam questions don't say which one to use. We practise picking it from the wording.
Probability and random variables.
Expected values and distributions are where many students first feel lost. We slow down and build it up properly.
Hypothesis testing.
Setting up hypotheses, choosing between z and t, and stating a conclusion in plain words. Easy marks to lose.
Regression output.
Reading a slope, interpreting correlation, and knowing what the numbers do and don't tell you.
How it works

First session free, then $120 an hour. No minimum, pay as you go.
James Kerr
I've been tutoring maths and statistics for over 20 years, including the compulsory first-year units that business, psychology and health students take.
I write my own practice exams and worksheets, matched to the style of the real thing, and every numerical answer is checked before it goes in. Students can message me on WhatsApp when they're stuck, and I usually reply the same day.
Frequently Asked Questions
Ideally in the first few weeks, before estimation and hypothesis testing begin. If your exam is close, we can still focus on the topics worth the most marks.
I'll help you understand the methods behind your assessments, but I won't complete assessed work for you.
No. I'm an independent tutor, and my practice exams are my own, written to match the course.
